🛒 Point of Sale (POS): High-Speed Billing
For retail businesses, speed is everything. Versoll Books' POS interface is optimized for quick transactions, barcode scanning, and multi-mode payments. This guide shows you how to turn your computer into a high-performance checkout counter.
Regular invoices are for B2B deals with credit terms. POS is for over-the-counter retail sales where payment is collected immediately. The POS interface is designed for mouse-free operation and thermal receipt printing.
Setting Up Your POS Terminal
Before you start selling, you need to configure your POS profile. Navigate to Settings > POS Settings.
Configure Default Accounts
Tell the system where to record POS transactions automatically:
- Default Cash Account: Where cash payments are recorded.
- Default Bank Account: For Card or UPI payments.
- Default Income Account: Usually your main "Sales" account.
- Default Warehouse: The location from which stock is deducted.
Hardware Integration
Versoll Books POS works with standard retail hardware:
- Barcode Scanners: Simply plug and play. Ensure your cursor is in the item search field.
- Thermal Printers: Select your printer and choose "POS Receipt" as the default print format (usually 3-inch or 2-inch width).
- Cash Drawers: Connect through your thermal printer for automatic "pop" on payment.
Running a Checkout
Access the billing screen via Sales > POS Terminal.
Adding Items
You can add items in three ways:
- Scan: Use a barcode scanner for instant addition.
- Search: Type the item name or SKU in the search bar.
- Quick Keys: Use the touch-friendly item grid for frequently sold products.
Multi-Mode Payments
Customers rarely pay with just one method. Our POS supports splitting a single bill across:
- Cash: Enter amount received; the system calculates change.
- Credit/Debit Card: Record the transaction reference.
- UPI/QR: Display your dynamic QR code for instant scan-and-pay.
- Store Credit: Deduct from the customer's loyalty balance.
Pro Tip: Offline Mode The POS terminal is designed to handle temporary internet drops. It will sync your transactions to the cloud once you're back online, ensuring you never stop a sale.
